Definition of DEFCON: any one of five levels of U.S. Military defense readiness that are ranked from 5 to 1 according to the perceived threat to national security, with 1 indicating the highest level of perceived threat It was determined that the secretary of Defense had the authority to declare DEFCON 3. Started in 1992 by the Dark Tangent, DEF CON is the world's longest running and largest underground hacking conference. Hackers, corporate IT professionals, and three letter government agencies all converge on Las Vegas every summer to absorb cutting edge hacking research from the most brilliant minds in the world and test their skills in contests of hacking might. The DEF CON Groups (DCGs or DC-Groups) are a gathering point for folks interested in the alternate applications of modern technology, referred to properly as 'hacking'. The 20th edition of the interdisciplinary Diabetic Foot Conference –DFCon – invites
all those engaged in the field of diabetic foot care, wound healing, limb salvage, and
amputation prevention to submit an abstract for the upcoming conference.
The Annual Poster Competition
Each accepted abstract, with at least one author registered for the conference, will automatically participate in the competition.

Young Investigator Award
Applicants for this award must be investigators early in their careers. A panel of DFCon experts will grade and accept posters for presentation.The three best Poster Abstracts and the three best abstracts submitted for the Young Investigator Award will be rewarded

Edward James Olmos Award
A centerpiece of the conference is the presentation of the Edward James Olmos Award for Advocacy in Amputation Prevention. The award is named in honor of the celebrated actor and director Edward James Olmos, who has been active in raising awareness of the ravages of diabetes and the importance of limb preservation in the Latino community. Every male member of Olmos's family, including his father and all of his uncles, has either died or lost limbs as a result of diabetes. He has made it a personal mission to educate his community, which has one of the highest rates of diabetes and limb amputation.
